Town Restricts Parking Near Chatham Fish Pier

Answering neighbors’ concerns that traffic can’t negotiate all of the cars parked along Barcliff Avenue during peak summer times, selectmen last week voted to ban parking on the south side of the street. The move will free up the road for vehicles, but also eliminates many precious parking spots for the nearby Chatham Fish Pier.

The town’s traffic study committee recommended posting “No Parking This Side” signs on the south side of the street between Shore Road and Old Harbor Road, and along the north side of the road to a point 50 feet west of the Shore Road intersection. The plan also includes “No Parking to Corner” signs on Barcliff Avenue 25 feet east and west of Gladen Lane. Selectmen voted unanimously to adopt the parking restrictions. and also voted to post new “No Parking” signs on the west side of School Street
