Shark Alert
The Chatham Harbormaster has issued a warning to local swimmers. Last week there were two credible confirmed sightings of a great white shark in the vicinity of the southern tip of Monomoy and North Beach.
“While it is rare for a shark to strike and attack a swimmer in the water, swimmers should exercise caution when swimming in Chatham’s ocean waters. In particular, pwole should avoid swimming in waters in direct proximity to seal” which are a food source for sharks. If you see a shark, immediately get out of the water and then contact the Harbormaster (508) 945-5145 or the Chatham Police (508) 945- 1213.
