Foodrunner New Chatham Delivery Service

Rob Mador, a Harwich resident who owns the Chatham-based Escape Landscape, came up with the idea of a one stop service you could call to order food from any local restaurant, and have it delivered to your doorstep --- or the beach, park or wherever you happened to be at the time. He noodled the idea, but it didn’t really take off until he stumbled across the website for the Wounded Warriors Project, a nonprofit organization that helps wounded and disabled soldiers.

“Mador’s concept is to employ disabled vets to operate FoodRunner, answering phones, taking orders and performing office and management duties. He’s fleshed out the concept and believes it could be successfully franchised; but for now, he’s aiming to begin the initial operation in Chatham, probably later this year or early next, and has leased the former Chatham Printing space in West Chatham.

With support from his father, Joe, who is a CPA, his motherAnn and his wife Cheryl, Mador hopes the Chatham operation will serve as a template for addition FoodRunner businesses, which could be owned and operated by disabled vets, who have could take advantage of loan programs aimed at helping wounded warriors become self-sufficient. He’s identified 180 potential franchise sites, many of them near military bases and hospitals. Half of the profit from franchising would go back to the Wounded Warriors Project.”
