Certainly there can be no harder task than to name the single best from so many perfect, yet different, beaches. Lighthouse Beach is in a class by itself. One of the best beaches in the world Pleasant Bay offers both great views and a variety of aquatic sporting activities. The Barrier Beaches
The Barrier Beaches are North Beach, North Beach Island and South Beach and are for those with independent and adventurous spirits. North Beach is a barrier beach; with gorgeous views; swimming for the intrepid and practically deserted. South Beach is the ultimate, uncrowded beach even in the middle of summer. The Nantucket Sound Beaches
Soft sand, calm water, tidal pools, and nature trails; many with facilities and amenities. Cockle Cove Beach a small Nantucket Sound beach and a great choice for families especially those with small children. Forest Beach a small Nantucket Sound Beach that makes for a wonderful escape from the crowds and is a great beach for family outings. Hardings Beach Chatham's most family-friendly beach with soft sand, warm, placid waters and a hiking trail. Pleasant Street Beach is a Nantucket Sound beach with warm, calm waters and gorgeous sunsets. Ridgevale Beach's tidal pools, large sandy beach and lifeguards on duty make this the most popular family beach on Nantucket Sound. Goose Pond is a lovely, unspoiled fresh water pond and a bit is of a local's secret swimming hole, with it's location in the middle of Chatham's forested center. Oyster Pond is Chatham's only saltwater pond; located near downtown with scenic view and a formal picnic area with charcoal grills Schoolhouse Pond is a freshwater pond popular with families because of it's convenience.
